Soulsbourne
Soulsborne is an aesthetic that derives from the computer game series Dark Souls and it’s associated games Demon’s Souls, Bloodbourne, Sekiro and Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. The aesthetic features dying or dead worlds filled with corrupted, monstrous and often gigantic creatures that were often originally human. Typically the protagonist is immortal often being some form of undead or having some ability to resurrect themselves often at particular places like bonfires. “Dying” though remains an unpleasant experience and one that often enacts some kind of spiritual toll on the character.
In tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPG) influence by this aesthetic often the combat mechanics of the games are reproduced with light and heavy attacks and defensive blocks or rolls. Typically the main weaponry is the sword and shield.
