GM Synopsis
The group travel upriver encountering a raided plantation with evidence of atrocities having been performed against the settlers.
Continuing their journey the group encounter a Slann priest who explains that Kurtz has stolen a relic from one of the ancient pyramids and slaughtered the attending priests.
The final stage of the journey takes the group to the temple complex where Kurtz is based. Kurtz is lost in a bout of melancholy and the effect of the artefact is that the malaise is projected onto his followers, this allows the characters to approach Kurtz, learn the truth and then decide whether they want to flee or try to do something about the situation.
