Exploring the City of the Dead

We arrive at the City via boat. There seems to be a market with items that mourners need. We seem to buy a lot of towels, as Ye Sing can now set these on fire these purchases are not as useless as they might seem.

We join a procession of mourners that are being led by a various nervous cat. It seems the city is in chaos and its leadership is inept or corrupt (echoes of the temple here). The various guides seem to be trying to keep the whole enterprise going but everyone is very on edge.

While travelling with the procession we pass a map of the tombs and we see the symbol of a cockroach. We debate immediately proceeding to investigate but it seems the more correct thing to do is to stay with the procession until it arrives safely.

A headless person with a huge mouth in their stomach comes to great us and says he’s dead. The person is very friendly and this is quite rare in the underworld. We’re reminded of Noodey, the rock person who first helped up when we arrived This causes a lot of confusion but eventually the guide explains that this Ebullient Page who is genuinely a ghost but seems to be harmless. The guide would prefer we ignore him but we’re happy for the company.

As we continue with the procession we bump into the demon hunter who went on ahead. We tell him about the roach map and he goes off to investigate.

The procession encounters a dark sucking shadow and we decide to take our torches and lure it away from the procession. We manage to get it to follow us and then we lose it in the side tunnels but when we return to the main path everyone has disappeared except Ebullient Page. It turns out that some other ghost or force has abducted the guide and the mourners. Page seems confused but unaffected, probably because it is a ghost. They test us that it should be possible to find the procession again in one of the other spaces so we set out to look for them.
